Catarina Fernandes Barreira

Catarina Fernandes Barreira holds a PhD in Art Sciences/Fine Arts and, since 2011, has been an Integrated Researcher at the Institute of Medieval Studies of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He was a FCT doctoral fellow at the University of Lisbon (2006-2009) and a postdoctoral fellow at IEM (2011-2017). Between 2019 and 2025, she was a researcher contracted under the Transitional Standard, financed by national funds through the FCT. His area of ​​specialization is the History of Art, with an interest in medieval liturgy, the Cistercian Order and Cistercian monasteries, as well as the study of libraries, scriptoria, codices and circulation of manuscripts. Between 2018 and this year he coordinated and led projects funded by FCT, such as Cistercian Horizons. Studying and characterizing a medieval scriptorium and its production. Alcobaça.
